2020 is the year we expect to see 5G-powered iPhones. Changes won’t be on the hardware and software alone as reports suggest – even the accessories will be limited.
New reports from top-analyst Ming-chi Kuo suggest that Apple will stop including the power adapter as well as the free earbuds. Besides, he also says that the company won’t include the power adapter in the iPhone SE models that will be shipped later this year.
This is controversial to the company’s norm. Typically, Apple includes EarPods in all iPhone packages, together with a standard USB-A adapter. For the iPhone SE and iPhone 11 you get a 5W charging brick and an 18W fast charging USB-C adapter with the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
But before you get bummed, this move is reportedly meant to help the iPhone-maker cut cost increases when it comes to upgrading th iPhone to support 5G.
It’s clearly a bummer on the other hand since last year is when the company pulled up their sock to include an 18W fast-charging brick.
About the EarPods, the company may have plans to promote its own AirPods Pro earbuds which are very versatile compared to the former. However, remember the AirPods Pro don’t come cheap – they have a premium price tag – just like other products from the Cupertino California-based tech giant.
