NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, is finally here – the last major streaming service launched this year. It joins Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, CBS All Access, HBO Max, Apple TV Plus and Amazon Prime Video – pretty late to the streaming party.
Peacock has three different tiers. Depending on the tier you select, you will have access to different shows.
The base tier is free – yes, free! But with a catch – its supported by ads and you’ll have limited access to content. This could be a better proposition for some, who don’t want to pay premiums on other competing streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. The free tier offers access to roughly 13,000 hours of NBCUniversal content, access to latest NBC shows a week after airing plus sample episodes of Peacock Original shows.
NBC Peacock premium costs $4.99-per-month or $49.99 per year. It includes more content than the basic ad-supported free plan, Peacock originals, next-day access to new episodes of NBC shows after airing, live streaming events – including the English Premier League. Peacock premium has some ads, too – but not many as what you’ll see on the basic plan. The company cites streaming rights as the reason why you’ll see ads on some Peacock channels, events, and a few shows and even movies.
Peacock Premium Ad-Free
For those who want premium ad-free content, the second tier which costs $9.99 a month is what you should go for. It offers similar content as Peacock premium but has no ads. Peacock Premium Ad-free costs $99.99 per year. A single account only allows up to three concurrent streams.
What about Infinity Customers?
Xfinity customers (Xfinity Internet or Digital Starter TV customers) have free access to Peacock’s Premium tier at launch. If they don’t need ads – nobody does – they can only pay $4.99 a month to get Peacock’s Premium Ad-Free subscription.
