Deleted some photos and don’t know what to do next? Hold up. Tech giant, Microsoft has something for you. The company has launched a new app available exclusively on Windows to help recover deleted photos.
“Accidentally deleted an important file? Wiped clean your hard drive? Unsure of what to do with corrupted data? Windows File Recovery can help recover your personal data,” the app’s description states.
File Recovery is the name of the app. As the name suggests, File Recovery is not just for recovering deleted photos. It can also help recover other file types from photos, videos, documents and more. Microsoft says this tool supports “many file types.”
“Windows File Recovery supports many file types to help ensure that your data is not permanently lost,” the app’s description states.
Besides the app seems to carry much more versatility under the hood. It can also USB thumb drives, memory cards, SSDs and even SD cards. There’s a little caveat for SSDs however. Microsoft says File Recovery’s functionality is limited to SSD TRIM.
For the unaware, SSD TRIM is an Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) command that enables an operating system to inform a NAND flash solid-state drive (SSD) which data blocks it can erase because they are no longer in use.
