Sony launched the PlayStation 5 last year together with a new next-gen controller, the Dual Sense controller. The PS5 features massive improvements from the last-gen PlayStation 4, which was launched years ago.
The PS5 promises improvements in all the right places that are important for an immersive gaming experience. This includes the inclusion of an SSD instead of slow hard drives, which makes the PS5 faster than the PS4 and a more powerful processor. Thanks to the new hardware PS5 supports variable refresh rates, low latency, HMDMI 2.1, all leading to one thing – performance improvement.

With 16GB of DDR6 RAM, a custom Ryzen Zen 2 CPU with 8 cores, and 16 threads, the PS5 can run games at 8K. Of course, you’ll need an 8K TV too. If you don’t have one, you can only game at 4K up to 120fps.
The PS5 ships in two models; a disc-less version and a standard model with a BlueRay disc. The full version goes for $499, while the digital version without a disc is priced at $399. Here’s every little specification you need to know about the PS5.

Alongside the PlayStation 5, Sony also unveiled the Dual Sense controller. It is to be used alongside the PS5 bringing improved haptics and other subtle yet much-needed improvements.
It’s a valid question to inquire about the specific differences between the Dual Sense wireless controller and the DualShock 4 wireless controller.
Difference between DualSense Controller and Dual Shock 4
The main improvements the DualSense controller brings forth is the so-called immersive next-generation features. These include haptic feedback technology and adaptive triggers.

Haptic feedback tech replaces the outgoing “rumble” features that were available on the DualShock 4 controller. DualShock 4 controller used two small spinning motors that created a vibrating effect. Replacing the spinning motors is a dual actuator that leads to quicker, more precise, and far more tactile haptics.
DualSense and DualShock 4 Compatibility
However, if you play a PS4 game thanks to Sony’s PlayStation Collection Plus, you won’t experience haptics – the DualSense will simulate the “rumble” effects of the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

To play PS4 games on the PS5, you can use whichever console – the DualShock 4 or DualSense. But to play PS5 games, you’ll specifically need the DualSense.
Sony is also allowing users to disable or reduce haptics on the DualSense controller if they want.
Game developers are expected to take advantage of these features to deliver an immersive gaming experience to users while playing games on the PS5.
There’s also other subtle improvements on the console design that you won’t quite notice.
Does the DualSense wireless controller include a built-in speaker?
Yes. The Dual Sense has an inbuilt speaker with higher sampling frequency and acoustic improvements producing better sounds than its predecessor.
Does the DualSense wireless controller include a built-in microphone?
Yes, the DualSense has a built-in microphone. The included microphone is handy for casual chatting sessions while gaming. The integrated microphone array and built-in echo cancellation ensure you can communicate better while gaming, but it’s not recommended for use on long gaming sessions. For such, you’re better off using a pair of gaming headsets.
Sony has included a handy mute button that allows you to toggle the mic on and off at any moment. The same mute button can also be used to toggle the mic on a connected pair of headset.
Pressing the button shortly mutes or unmutes the controller mic and the mic on a wired headset or USB headset. A long press mutes the mic input and all PS5 audio output from your connected TV, speakers, or headset.
The Dual Sense costs $69. Here’s everything you should know about the Dual Sense Controller.
