YouTube Premium is a paid version of Google’s content platform YouTube. YouTube Premium promises additional features to the standard version. YouTube is pretty popular, and a paid subscription is thus worth looking into.
What is YouTube Premium?
YouTube Premium is the paid version of YouTube. Being a paid version, it packs some extra functionality that you won’t access while using the free version of the app. YouTube Premium was launched in the US in October 2015, although, at the time, it was known as YouTube Red.
The subscription-based service officially rebranded in 2018 to YouTube Premium.
Best YouTube Premium Features
YouTube Premium includes additional functionalities that aren’t available on the regular free version. These include;
Ability to save videos offline for later viewing
YouTube Music Premium
Let’s take an in-depth look at each one of these.
1. Ad-free YouTube Streaming
YouTube Premium’s most important feature could be the ability to watch videos without bumping into ads. Let’s be real YouTube ads suck! But it doesn’t have to be so.
This paid version removes all ads on the platform, typically placed before and during a video, and video overlay ads.
YouTube premium also nixes third-party banner ads and search ads. The only ads visible are those embedded inside content by YouTube creators. However, this ad-free experience extends across all of your devices, including TV, Gaming consoles, smartphones, and even the web.
2. Download YouTube Videos for Offline Viewing
Unless you live in India, we all know that mobile data is miles from cheap. Cable UK’s recent worldwide mobile data pricing report has proven that India leads in terms of cheap mobile data. But not all of us stay in India, and having the ability to watch videos on the go is a necessary functionality that YouTube should have.
YouTube Premium gives you a chance to access this feature. Using Premium, you can save lots of videos offline in different quality. Currently, YouTube Premium allows you to download videos in Standard quality(SD) or 360p and High Definition(HD) or 720p.
You can download single videos as well as playlists.
One of the most popular search terms is “How to play YouTube videos in the background on Android” and “Can you play YouTube app in background?” Yes, it’s possible, and that’s where a YouTube Premium subscription comes in.
YouTube Premium background play allows you to play videos in the background. Background play allows you to let a video continue playing while you switch gears into a separate app. This feature unlocks a better entertainment experience.
YouTube Music Premium is another subscription-based service from Google. Music Premium is a music streaming service that aims to rival Spotify and Apple Music. YouTube Music Premium offers both videos and audio music directly inside the app.
YouTube Music premium comes bundled with a YouTube Premium subscription offering offline listening, access to millions of songs, background play, and an audio-only mode.
YouTube Music Premium is available separately for USD 9.99 per month.
